#40 Louie’s Turtle Discoveries
Didn’t know we had turtles in our backyard until we got Louie; he brings one to the porch every several weeks.
Who would have imagined our garden had such a wonderful secret? The hidden jewels of our outdoor paradise didn’t start to show themselves until we brought Louie, our cherished kitty friend into our life.
Louie has set out to solve the riddles that lie outside our comfortable house with his unquenchable curiosity and relentless will. And as it turns out, the modest turtle was one of those riddles—a strong, shell-covered creature.
Louie proudly trots up to our porch every few weeks, a turtle in tow, as if showing us a great find. These unannounced guests originally startled us, but with time we couldn’t help but wonder at Louie’s ability to find the hidden beauties of our own garden.
With their stoic demeanors and calm looks, these turtles have become a common sight and we have learned to value their particular viewpoint. Louie’s unwavering will to publish his discoveries has not only pleased us but also inspired a fresh interest in the great biodiversity right outside our door.
Seeing these amazing animals reminds us of the need of having our eyes open to the unexpected and of the need of keeping our thoughts open as well. Louie’s turtle discoveries have shown us that individuals with the curiosity and bravery to investigate frequently find the actual gems in life in the most understated locations.
