The Hachijo Royal Hotel
The Hachijo Royal Hotel, once a paragon of French Baroque architecture and luxury in Japan, now stands as a forsaken relic of a bygone era. Constructed amidst the tourist boom of the 1960s, it was the largest hotel in Japan at its inception, drawing visitors from across the nation with its opulent charm. Yet, as the island’s tourism industry waned, the hotel succumbed to closure in 2006, leaving behind echoes of its former grandeur.
