If You Come Here, You'll Be Closer to Astronauts in Space Than Any Human on Land
Though everyone talks of locations existing in the middle of nowhere, Point Nemo pushes that concept to the extremes. Known as the most remote spot on Earth, it’s the farthest place from any civilization. The distance from land is so vast that it’s almost pointless to measure—it’s that remote. In fact, if you found yourself stranded here, you’d be closer to astronauts in space than to anyone on land. How’s that for isolation?
Point Nemo’s extreme remoteness makes it a dangerous location
If you were lost here, rescue would be nearly impossible, and you’d likely remain lost for a very long time—if you were ever found at all. Interestingly, this spot is so isolated that it’s even used as a spacecraft graveyard, where defunct satellites and space stations are sent to crash.
For most of us, the idea of being that far from land is downright terrifying. Why risk it? Stay comfortable on solid ground and leave the middle of nowhere to the imagination. After all, Point Nemo serves as a stark reminder of just how vast and unforgiving our planet can be.
