4. You Wear Headbands
Headbands are incredibly hip. Still honey, they are not your friend. Not startling, we know. Even if they help to hide bad hair days, they cause horrible hair. Receding hair will result from repeated headband wear breaking at the hairline. Watch closely! Headbands entail more than just obvious tension on your hair; there is more involved here. The constant friction from headbands can weaken hair strands and break them, especially close to the hairline, when the hair is often most sensitive. Tight headbands can also restrict blood flow to the scalp, therefore affecting the condition and development of hair in particular areas. If you have to wear headbands, choose bigger, fabric-covered ones that more fairly distribute pressure. Never wear them for long stretches of time; never sleep with them. Consider combining numerous hair accessories and styles to provide your hair with some small break from otherwise. Using many substitutes, such as bobby pins, loose clips, or fabric scrunchies, less tension on your hair would result.
