#1 Nara Dreamland amusement park, Japan
Nara aimed to compete with Disney World using its own characters and attractions rather than relying on Donald Duck and his companions. The amusement park, built in 1961, closed in 2006 due to low attendance. It featured monolithic railroads, roller coasters, various types of games, and essentially all elements that make an amusement park successful. Despite vigorous promotion for some time, it no longer attracts visitors due to entry restrictions and fines imposed on curious photographers.
