#4 Craco, the italian ghost city

Craco is a deserted ghost town in the southern Italian province of Matera. The city was evacuated in 1963 due to repeated landslides. Situated near the sea, between the heel and sole of the ‘boot’ of Italy, Craco has since become a popular tourist destination. It’s also a favorite location for filmmakers, with Mel Gibson shooting parts of his film, “Passion,” here.
