#16 The Christ of the Depth

The two-and-a-half-meter statue at the bottom of the Mediterranean Sea is also known as Cristodegliabissi. In 1954, Dario Gonzalez, who perished diving in 1947, had a statue submerged under the sea. The Depth of Christ is located in San Fruttuoso, on the Italian Liguria coast. This year, the statue turned six years old. We took it out for a brief restoration in 2003 to prevent it from collapsing completely. An unsupervised boat managed to break down one arm, necessitating its repair. With an anchor.
