4.NASA Helios Prototype
In high-altitude solar drone design, the NASA Helios Prototype marks the height. Using its large 247-foot wingspan, this flying wing design combines over 62,000 solar cells to create power. At heights ranging from 96,863 feet, the Helios proved the possibility of solar-powered aircraft acting as atmospheric satellites. The drone's distributed motor system offers redundancy and dependability; its special flexible wing design lets it change with the seasons. The Helios project gave the area of solar aircraft priceless data even if it finally failed.
